Description
Bois d’Arc (Osage Orange)
Bois d’arc, also known as Osage Orange, is one of the hardest and most durable woods available. A member of the mulberry family, this deciduous tree produces large, round, yellow-green fruit up to five inches in diameter?resembling oranges in shape, but lacking a true rind. Native to Arkansas and Texas, it has since spread and become naturalized across much of the eastern United States. Young trees are often armed with sharp, one-inch spines, adding to their rugged character.
