Nano-Oil 85 Weight is the highest-viscosity formulation in the Nano-Oil system, designed specifically for slow-moving, high-pressure contact points where retention and damping matter more than speed. Unlike lighter Nano-Oil grades (5W and 10W), the 85W formulation is engineered to stay in place under load, making it ideal for surfaces that experience sliding contact, compression, or intermittent movement rather than continuous rotation. It uses the same proprietary nano-bearing additive system, where ultra-small particles embed into microscopic surface irregularities to reduce friction and maintain lubrication even as the carrier fluid dissipates. This leaves a persistent low-friction film that continues to function after initial application.

The 85 Weight formulation is specifically suited for:
Detent balls and detent tracks (controlled resistance + smoother break-in feel)
Washers in folding knives (especially phosphor bronze or stainless washers)
High-pressure pivot interfaces where a thicker film is beneficial
Non-bearing pivots that benefit from damping and stability rather than speed

Compared to thinner lubricants, 85 Weight provides:
