Spyderco’s Manix 2, C101PGY2, definitely lifted the standard on EDC’s. The stonewash CTS-BD1 steel blade has great edge retention. The gray FRCP handle is durable and contoured for comfort. The pocket clip is reversible, but only offers Tip-Up for the blade. The lock is a ball bearing which makes closing easy and smooth. C101PGY2 Manix 2 Micro-Melt Maxamet – This version of the Manix 2 Lightweight supercharges the performance of this workhorse design with a blade made of Carpenter steel’s Micro-Melt Maxamet alloy – a super-hard high-speed powdered tool steel. This noteworthy blade material possesses properties that transcend conventional high-speed tool steels and approach those of cemented carbides – the ultra-hard materials used to machine other steels. In a knife blade, that converts to extreme hardness, toughness, and edge retention. Spyderco is one of the very few companies in the knife industry to master working with this demanding material, and we are pleased to offer it on select products make in our U.S. factory.
